Health care providers are working to streamline administrative and medical work by moving from hard-copy patient files to electronic records. The 7 Medical software is provided on line as a service for a monthly fee, and the company is responsible for securing the data and maintaining the software. The “software-as-a-service” is targeted toward small and midsized health care organizations for which in-house electronic-record software would be prohibitively expensive. One such doctor-group user has reported dramatic decreases in support staff, transcription, courier, and printing costs.
