Founded: 1999

Revenues (2005): About $120 million
Background: As head of the bulk CO2 division of Minnesota
Valley Engineering, Plooster provided carbonated-beverage management for
restaurants. In 1997, he launched a similar program for cooking oil. This
program provided restaurants with a safer and more efficient system of disposing
of and replacing used oil. Two years later, when Minnesota Valley Engineering
was acquired, the bulk oil program was spun off as Restaurant Technologies.
Kiesel, a former senior executive at General Electric and GE Capital, joined
Restaurant Technologies in 2005 as CEO and directed a massive expansion plan.
The company now services more than 11,000 restaurants and plans to grow its operations to 42 cities across the country.
In
His Own Words (Kiesel): “We are less than 6 percent penetration into the market
in the U.S., and we see nothing but consistent and fast, profitable
growth.”
