Lebow was executive vice president and general manager of AOL Media Networks before he became CEO in July of Internet Broadcasting Systems, a St. Paul firm that designs and manages the Web sites of 80 television stations across the country. Lebow says the company will continue doing that work, but will also expand in new directions to take advantage of the Internet’s ever-growing status as a consumer powerhouse.
“Twenty-four percent of media consumption time is spent on the Internet,” he says. “Seven percent of advertising dollars are devoted to the Internet—it just passed radio.” Look for IBS to create its own sites for local markets: searches, news analysis, and more, often with ties to local TV stations to maximize crossover traffic.
