One of Greater Minnesota's most-successful business operators is Tom Rosen, who joined his family's feed, fertilizer, and farm-chemicals business in 1972, two years before it bought a bankrupt beef-packing plant in Long Prairie. He was named CEO of Rosen's Diversified in 1991 and helped expand revenues of the Fairmont-based company to $550 million by 1998; they have since surpassed $2 billion. The company processes 7,000 head of cattle per day, and its chemical and farm-fertilizer business spans 17 states.
