Zygi Wilf wants a new place to play football. The majority owner of the Vikings since June, he announced a plan in September for a $675 million stadium complex in Anoka County. It drew neither cheers nor catcalls. Instead, from Governor Tim Pawlenty on down, everyone appears to be suffering from stadium fatigue (and, perhaps, scandal fatigue) as policymakers and legislators wrestle with competing proposals from the Twins, the Gophers, and the Vikings. So, while Wilf and his ownership group are prepared to put up $280 million as the team’s share of stadium costs, the end zone looks to be 90 yards away with only a few minutes to play.
