A Brooklyn Park company with a global reach, RemotePipes offers traveling businesspeople access to the Internet almost anywhere in the world, in both wired and wireless platforms, working with a number of providers. According to Bonestroo, the company continues to focus on its international niche and sign up new customers, including Motorola and the Illinois-based Tribune Company. Revenues have been flat and margins tight for the past three years. RemotePipes is a mouse (it has only seven employees) amongst elephants like SBC Communications, Cingular, and Verizon. Bonestroo admits that the competition is tough. With Internet access getting cheaper and more Wi-Fi based, RemotePipes will be adding new capabilities and selling hard, particularly in Minnesota. It’s weathered the industry storms for six years—can it keep on fighting?
