In July, Minnetonka-based HotGigs pulled in $5.3 million in venture capital to fuel growth of its national online staffing exchange. The business is an update of the model Berg developed for Techies.com. That site was an Internet job board for IT geeks, charging companies to list their open positions. While HotGigs helps IT pros find either contract or staff positions through job listings, it also provides 3,000 client companies with a database of job candidates that includes 40,000 individuals and 12,000 staffing firms. Berg expects those numbers to double this year, as the company grows its lists of jobs and job seekers in new industries: health care, HR, and finance.
