Michael H. Carrel became president and CEO of Vital Images, Inc.—a Minnetonka-based provider of visualization software used by gives radiologists, cardiologists, and other medical specialists—in January 2008, after having served for three years as the company’s chief operating officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO). Because its hospital customers have been especially hit hard by the economic downtown, Carrel is guiding Vital Images through a strategic transition to provide patients, physicians and hospitals with “anywhere, anytime” access to its services. Carrel led a successful effort to raise $100 million for Vital Images in 2006. In 2004, he served as CEO of Zamba Corporation.
