River Cities Condominiums calls itself “a first-of-its-kind condominium community that will migrate with the seasons” on more than 6,000 miles of U.S. rivers and Gulf Coast intracoastal waterways.
Developer Dave Nelson, who’s lived on the Mississippi for nearly two decades in a downtown St. Paul houseboat, launched sales this fall. He expects to start shipyard construction in mid-2008 and have a completed vessel, The Marquette, by February 2010.
Condo units on board will range from 528 square feet for $299,000 to 924 square feet for $499,000, plus a $25 per square foot annual fee to cover the vessel’s operating costs. Half-year ownership of furnished units costs about half as much. River Cities is also accepting reservations for custom-designed units and special placement on board through the project’s sales team at Coldwell Banker Burnet.
