In the end, though, everyone involved wants the same thing: For you, the homeowner, to be happy. “Our definition of success is a happy client,” Awad says.
The

approach worked for the Mitchells. “We definitely feel like we got
exactly
what we wanted,” Carolyn Mitchell says. “We are extremely
happy.”
Accessible Architecture IOTA, an architecture firm in Minneapolis offers a different take on design work. In addition to traditional services, IOTA offers one-time, low-cost consultation services. Packages are offered in two-day and four-day bundles. For example, for $1,200, a homeowner gets two days of services from IOTA: A two- or three-hour on-site meeting, where a project is discussed and measured, a few hours of IOTA staff’s time, where sketch solutions are generated, and an in-office meeting. The packages have been popular, especially with new homeowners or those with small projects. “It’s a great thing in the marketplace,” says Judy Grundstrom, co-founder and principal at IOTA. “It makes architecture more ap-proachable and ties services to a fee so it makes sense to people.” |
