Call it the iPhone-ization of consumer electronics: Touch-screen interfaces are popping up all over, including on digital cameras. With both the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580 (due out in April, $400) and Nikon Coolpix S60 ($260), you can focus on—and set auto-exposure for—a specific point in your image by touching that spot on your viewfinder.

The Nikon’s only buttons are for power and shutter release. Zooming, changing shooting modes or menu settings, and virtually all other operations are controlled by touch. Panasonic’s interface is more of a hybrid: But it features onscreen sliders that adjust aperture and shutter speed, a feature Nikon lacks.
