Start your swing with a great grip.

The ability to play great golf starts with a great grip. Think of your grip as the steering apparatus of your clubface; its purpose is to square the face of the club through impact. Further, your grip facilitates your ability to generate many essential positions during the golf swing that produce power and therefore affect your distance. Your grip is the only connection you have with the golf club, and you must have your hands positioned on the club in the correct relationship to the club face.

In great golf grips...

•Palms are oriented on the grip parallel to one another, with the V’s pointing toward the right shoulder and no
visible gaps between the left thumb and the right hand.

•Finger spacing on the grip gives a ratio of three visible knuckles on the left hand to one visible knuckle on the right hand. Proper spacing gives a feeling of firm fingers around the handle and flexible wrists throughout the swing.

•Finger pressure on the grip is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. It remains constant throughout the swing through the three pressure points of the hands: the back three fingers of the left hand, the lifeline of the right hand against the left thumb, and the hook of the right index finger against the side of the club.
