Yasmin Levy is an Israeli singer-songwriter who performs Sephardic music, folksy compositions traditionally sung by women during their daily domestic work. She sings each song in Ladino, the Jewish interpretation of the Spanish language. Her music contains only a hint of modern instrumentation, incorporating piano, cello, and a few other instruments. Levy’s late father was an obsessive collector of Sephardic music who dreamed of seeing a talented performer give the songs new life.
