Spring in these parts doesn’t officially begin until the Sun God crosses Powderhorn Lake and blesses the Tree of Life. Which is what happens if you stick around after In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theatre’s annual MayDay Parade, an annual rite of the season that celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. The parade begins at 1 p.m., traveling down Bloomington Ave. from 26th St. to Powderhorn Park. The Tree of Life ceremony begins around 4 p.m., and the festivities—food, music, dancing—last until 7 p.m. May 3, 1 p.m. Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis.
