Eero Saarinen: Shaping the Future
As interest in mid-century modernism continues its resurgence, this exhibition provides the ideal opportunity to revisit the work of a 20th-century master, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen (1910–1961). His Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (better known as the Gateway Arch) in St. Louis might be his most iconic work to Midwesterners. But he also collaborated, with his father, architect Eliel Saarinen, on Christ Church Lutheran in South Minneapolis (1949) and designed IBM’s Rochester facilities (1958), as well as familiar sculptural furniture.
