One of the oldest fundraising events in the Twin Cities, the Symphony Ball, marked its 50th anniversary this past June. Depot Catering created a “retro” menu for the event, consisting of an iceberg wedge salad, braised beef, and crab-stuffed shrimp in a Milanaise sauce.

The ceilings were draped with gauzy fabric and small white lights. The centerpieces were a combination of crystal candelabras and white roses. The Orchestra performed and guests danced; the event also included live and silent auctions.

“The ball is always very special when the orchestra performs, and we were lucky that for the anniversary year there were no scheduling conflicts,” Harms says. “The biggest challenge of the event was getting the 90-piece orchestra assembled.”
