Businesses everywhere are having to make difficult decisions in order to survive and thrive in the current economy. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Even now, Minnesota companies are creating surprising, progressive, employee-friendly policies. They are encouraging a healthy balance between work and life—a balance that helps workers reduce stress and increase productivity.
Here, we examine four such companies. It hasn’t escaped our notice that all four encourage volunteerism and community involvement as part of their work-life benefit programs. Could this be the most Minnesotan of corporate values? And, as these profiles show, it’s a value that endures not just in spite of tough times, but all the more because of them.
