Brucato returned to KSTP-TV in July 2004 after 18 years in public relations and government. She served as former Governor Arne Carlson’s director of communications and deputy chief of staff.

relations, when you’re representing a
client, when you are an advocate, you
engage another level of your
intellect. You go beyond merely observing,
storytelling, and putting
facts together. It takes an extra push, a leap of
faith. In journalism,
I don’t have to believe in the causes of the people I’m
talking about.
I came back to KSTP because this is what I enjoy. I discovered I could bring business back into media—that knowing how business and politics work is useful. Most people in the news media haven’t been directly involved in that. I would argue that it’s good to get some dirt under your fingernails.”
