Before founding Eden
Prairie–based 2nd Wind in 1992, Enrico started 20 businesses, selling just about
everything from pots and pans to waterbeds to cellular phones. Most failed. But
2nd Wind, which sells used home-exercise equipment, now has 56 stores in seven
states.
“I
learned the importance of attracting good, qualified people to help me. It took
me 30 years to figure that out. Many of the ideas I came up with were wonderful
ideas, but I didn’t have good people to help me. I was very poor at running a
business. If you don’t have good people to run them, they are doomed to fail—and
they did. It’s OK to fail. It’s not
pretty, it’s not fun, but it’s OK.”
