{Q} Would you prefer to run a private or public company?

{A} Today, it would be private.

{Q} Why?

{A} Because the pendulum is too far over on all the regulations, and most CEOs are wasting too much time on accounting and legal issues rather than running the business. Although I think that pendulum will come back.

{Q} Care to offer a summing-up of your CEO experience?

{A} I think we did a lot of things right and there were a lot of things that I can improve on. There is so much about leadership that you can’t sum it up in one word. There’s fiscal responsibility, strategy, teamwork, and driving results. But I think at the end of the day, especially in a public company, it’s about setting the right expectations and then getting a whole group of people to perform to those expectations.
