Steve Chirhart, a principal at TaTonka Real Estate Advisors in Minneapolis and saxophonist with The NAIOPs, jokes that after their initial performance a few years ago, their name stood for “never again in open public.”
Actually, the acronym stands for National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and Chirhart’s is one of six local companies represented in the band, which plays at several association events each year. They must be getting better, too. The NAIOPs have been asked to perform for both the Greater Minneapolis Building Owners and Managers Association and the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors. Commercial real estate never sounded so good!
Honorable Mention: The Attractive Nuisance Tour raises money for Twin Cities legal-aid charities and features local bands that have at least one “lawyer rocker.” The 2007 event will be held at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis on October 26.
