With the upcoming Republican National Convention in sight, Meet Minneapolis, the official Convention and Visitors Association, has launched a social media newsroom and a social media campaign. The two new additions are in response to the growing demand for more multimedia and easily accessible information regarding Minneapolis.

“Easily accessible” also means that the new content will be accessible via mobile and handheld devices, which will allow reporters and even casual browsers to explore the new content at their own leisure.

Features of the new social media newsroom include:

  • Downloadable b-roll and high-resolution images,
  • Interactive map highlighting photo ops in Minneapolis and St. Paul,
  • Media toolkits and story ideas,
  • News releases and a blog,
  • General travel and tourism information,
  • And information on upcoming events.
  • Meet Minneapolis also seeks to dive into the online community through new initiatives that include a Facebook page, Flickr group, Twitter account, and a YouTube channel.
