Minnetonka-based Datatrend
Technologies, Inc. has been chosen as a finalist in the category of “Outstanding
Client Centric System x Solution” in the annual IBM Beacon Awards Competition. The
competition honors IBM Business Partners for
their ingenuity, innovation, and client satisfaction, among other things. This is the
second year Datatrend has been recognized by
IBM in a System x Solution Beacon Award
category. Datatrend won an IBM Beacon Award
in 2007 for “Best IBM System x Solution.” The
Sunnyvale,
California medical device maker Kyphon is
being awarded the Mergers & Acquisitions award from the International
Business Forum for Recognition for Outstanding Deal Execution. Minneapolis-based
Medtronic acquired Kyphon last July for $4.2 billion.
Solveras and the National
Federation of Small Business has named local businessman Bill Gullickson the
Small Business Champion of the Year for
Minnesota. Gullickson is the
former CEO and current chairman of
insecticide and insect repellant manufacturer McLaughlin Gormley King Co. of
Apple Valley.
Minnesota Wire founder Fred Wagner was awarded the Wire & Cable Manufacturers
Alliance (WCMA) Distinguished Career Award for his over forty years in the
wire and cable business.
The McKnight Foundation has named Minnesota author Bill Holm as the 2008
McKnight Distinguished Artist, in recognition of artistic excellence spanning
more than three decades. The honor includes a
$50,000 cash award and recognizes individual Minnesota artists who have made
significant contributions to the quality of the state's cultural life.
