Sue K. Hammersmith has been appointed president of Metropolitan State University by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. Hammersmith is provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a post she has held since 2002. Previously, Hammersmith was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Ferris State University in west central Michigan and dean of University College at Ball State University. Edna Mora Szymanski was appointed president of Minnesota State University Moorhead. Szymanski is senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Maine, Orono, a position she has held since 2006. She previously was dean and professor in the College of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Daniel Gore has joined the public relations consulting firm Padilla Speer Beardsley as director of its business-to-business manufacturing practice area. He will be responsible for developing and leading integrated marketing communications programs for many of the firm’s clients.
