Contest organizers announced the opening of the Fourth Annual Minnesota Cup today, a contest which awards the most innovative visions from companies and individuals within the state.

The Minnesota Cup asks for “breakthrough business ideas” from entrepreneurs who simply have simply an idea, or are already putting their vision into the market.

The contest is open to any business based in Minnesota that is less than five-years old and has less than one million dollars in annual revenue. Prize money has also doubled from last year and the top three prizes will pay out $50,000, $10,000, and $5,000 each.

“Entrepreneurs are a vital part of Minnesota’s economic growth and prosperity,” says Governor Tim Pawlenty, touting the contest in a press release. “During the past decade, most of the new jobs created have come from the creative efforts of entrepreneurs and small business owners.”

Wells Fargo and the University of Minnesota are partner sponsors of the event and the winners will be published in the December issue of Twin Cities Business. For more information, visit MinnesotaCup.org.
