Stellent, Inc. founder Robert Olson has bought the assets of Eden Prairie software company SwiftKnowledge, LLC.
Olson will assume the role of CEO of SwiftKnowledge, a privately-held company that provides Web-based business intelligence (BI) software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SwiftKnowledge was founded in 1999. The company’s products have more than 10,000 users worldwide. All of the company’s employees will remain on staff.
Olson previously served as founder, chairman, and CEO of Stellent, Inc.—an Eden Prairie-based enterprise content management software provider that was acquired by Oracle Corp. for $440 million in March 2007.
“I’m particularly excited about the instant business benefits SwiftKnowledge’s BI technology provides to organizations, given today’s challenging financial environment,” Olson said in a company-issued press release. “I’m also excited by the strong parallels I see between the emerging content management market of the 1990s—of which Stellent was a pioneer—and today’s Web-based BI market.”
Olson added that he sees “great opportunity for growth” for SwiftKnowledge.
